Recently we held our annual Qlik event “Turning Insights into Actions: The journey to being data-driven with Qlik” at the Malta Aviation Museum. This event revolved around the topic of Business Intelligence, Big Data and how Qlik is designed to empower everyone in an organization with analytics, regardless of skill.
The event opened with a keynote speech by Hadrian J. Sammut who spoke about using disruptive technology to embrace change. He used the example of a great artist, David Bowie who perceived inevitable change and was always ready to adapt.
Stefanos Tsokalidis, Sales and Alliances Director from WITSIDE, then went on to discuss how businesses are transforming to take advantage of a new analytics economy and how better insights in less time can be key to being successful in this new reality. He also showcased Qlik’s latest product innovations. Gabriel Vella, our BI Developer, then demonstrated how Qlik can be used to build interactive and visual dashboards with a data-set from aircraft operations which were used during the World War.
After the networking coffee break, Jason Cruz, BI Consultant spoke about how Qlik makes it easy to test ideas and to gain innovative insight from Big Data. The event closed off with a panel discussion with three current Qlik and iMovo customers: Joseph Vincent Refalo from MeDirect Bank Malta plc, Maria Spiteri from GasanMamo Insurance Ltd, and Adrian Vella from Tipico who spoke about how they use the product and how it has helped them optimise their processes.
During the networking lunch, attendees had the opportunity to take a photo with Mary-Rose, the resident Supermarine Spitfire at the Malta Aviation Museum. Lastly, attendees were given a tour of the Museum Hangars together with a brief history of the planes in the museum.
